My Self-Care Blueprint

February is the month of love and chilly weather and I find myself taking some extra time to luxuriate in self-care—focusing on those little things that bring me immense joy and peace. Who needs Cupid, right? I mean, we've got this incredible ability to nurture and cherish ourselves. Lately, I've been finding connection in simple pleasures, me-time. Seemingly small rituals have become my sanctuary, providing a much-needed pause in my day-to-day. Checking out to check in is often just what we need.

Here’s what has been keeping me grounded and connected…

Sauna Sessions: One of the highlights of my winter routine! My wood-burning sauna is a true ritual. The cedar interior smells so good…it’s a total sensory experience. It takes some time to set up, but the process of heating up, tending to the fire, and indulging in the warmth is a meditation in itself.

Fireside Knitting: Embracing my inner grandma, I love to spend winter evenings cozied up by my wood stove, sipping tea, and knitting. It's a meditative and fulfilling activity that allows me to create something tangible while bringing a sense of calm.

Nature Immersion: No matter the weather, I make it a point to spend time in nature daily. While my dogs accompany me on walks, there's something magical about venturing deeper into the wild. I find solace beside a mother tree, leaning against its trunk, absorbing the wisdom it has to share. Mary Oliver's poem perfectly encapsulates this experience for me.

Financial Reflections: January is my month for a comprehensive financial check-in. Meeting with my financial advisor ensures my investments are on track and I’m getting my money right. I also carve out money dates with myself, where I sit down to review my bills and budgets. Setting the mood with a crackling fire, soothing music, and a strong cup of coffee, these moments help me stay focused and in control.

Chopping Wood: Fires are a big part of my winter, so chopping and stacking wood is a very real part of my self-care. As the saying goes, "Chop your own wood, and it will warm you twice."

Garden Planning: Looking ahead to spring, I'm already planning my veggie garden! This year, I'm determined to get my cherry tomatoes to ripen and will be starting seeds inside for all kinds of greens in March. There's something incredibly grounding about getting my hands in the dirt, and this project is a part of my self-love journey.

I've come to cherish these little acts of personal replenishment that fill up my soul and sprinkle some magic into my daily routine – a quiet cup of coffee, brunch with girlfriends, and even a pause to practice my Italian or watch my favorite Rom Coms.

Prioritizing emotional and physical well-being, and embracing practices that honor our vitality, feels more important than ever. So, how about we hit the pause button on the hustle, treating ourselves to moments of reflection and pure self-indulgence? Give yourself the gift of some personal time this weekend and choose a simple pleasure to fully immerse yourself in.

I'm not sure the 'Month of Amore' email needs a blog but we could shift it to be about the luxury perks of Italy (perhaps adding a bit more here)...
