My Year in Review and Word for 2024

Each year I choose a word that serves to guide me as I make decisions across my life personally and professionally. As we look forward to 2024, I find myself drawn to the word EXCEPTIONAL.

EXCEPTIONAL experiences will be at the forefront of my focus.

I want to curate and create truly extraordinary moments, whether it's through retreats, events, or everyday encounters.

I want to cultivate EXCEPTIONAL relationships.

To nurture connections that go beyond surface-level interaction and delve into deep, meaningful bonds. I believe we can support and lift each other up, creating a community that is truly special and empowering.

And finally, I want to adventure in EXCEPTIONAL ways, both personally and professionally…

By continuing to step out of my comfort zone, discovering new perspectives, and taking on Dares that will shape me in remarkable ways.

My word for 2023 was EXPANSION.

Looking back, it was a year filled with growth and transformation:

- We expanded into international territory with our retreat in Morocco and I'm thrilled to announce that we have added two more European trips for 2024. These new adventures will allow us to connect with women from around the world and expand our horizons even further.

- Our online community experienced incredible growth, surpassing 40K members. It's been a joy to see this community flourish and thrive, and we even celebrated with a special party to honor this milestone.

- The Dare to Detour email community saw a fivefold expansion, and I'm motivated to keep sharing my story and the stories of others that inspire and uplift.

- Personally, I pushed myself beyond my comfort zone and organized our first backcountry retreat. We embarked on a five-day, all-women backpacking trip, immersing ourselves in nature and challenging ourselves physically and mentally. It was one of the most transformative experiences that I had all year.

- Lastly, our gatherings and Dinner with Darlings launched, creating opportunities for connection and shared experiences. across the country. These intimate gatherings have been a highlight of the year, and I'm excited to continue hosting them in 2024.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the women who Detoured with me this year, as well as to everyone who has followed along and supported Dare to Detour. Your presence here has been instrumental in the expansion we've experienced. And I feel deeply, deeply grateful for each and every one of you.

As I enter my eighth year of Dare to Detour, I am humbled by how far we've come. What began as a small female-owned business has blossomed into a thriving community of empowered women. It is truly a gift to be on this Detour with all of you.

So, as we embark on a new year, I invite you to contemplate your own word for 2024. What intention do you want to set for yourself? What guiding theme will shape your experiences and relationships for the next 365 days? I personally love this so much more than New Year’s resolutions.
