60 is the New 60
This year, something profound shifted for me. As I approach 60, I'm no longer resisting aging—I'm celebrating it.
For most of my 50s, I fought against the inevitable passage of time. I tried to push back, to deny the changes happening in my body, my life, and my perspective. But this year feels different. This year, I'm choosing to embrace aging with curiosity, strength, and an open heart.
The last decade has been a powerful teacher. I've launched my own business with Dare to Detour, supported my adult children through significant life transitions, survived breast cancer, and navigated the end of my marriage. Each of these experiences has been a Detour—unexpected, challenging, but ultimately transformative.
This year feels like a culmination. I'm five years cancer-free. My divorce is finalized. I've invested in property with my children. And for the first time in years, I'm open to new possibilities—even dating.
60 is not about slowing down. It's about leaning in.
It's about recognizing that our resilience grows with every challenge we navigate. It's about understanding that our creativity doesn't diminish—it evolves. It's about knowing that our vitality is not defined by age, but by our willingness to stay curious, to take risks, and to believe in ourselves.
When I deemed "60 is the New 60" my mantra for this year it wasn't just about the number. It was about a philosophy. A commitment to living fully, exactly where we are. To celebrating the wisdom we've gained as women, the strength we've built, and the adventures still waiting for us.
So here's to 60. Not as a number to fear, but as a milestone to embrace!
